Cairns ,Queensland
Cairns Australia is not only the gateway to the Great Barrier Reef or Daintree Rainforest but it is the Tropical of Queenland’s North. It is a warmer tropical climate with lots of beautiful beaches, restaurants and accommodation to choose from.
As with any city I always visit, location is very important to me . I like to be centrally located for close walking distance and as a solo traveller , it is safer than being in a secluded area .
Abbott Boutique Hotel
This centenial lasting hotel not only stands out from the crowd but is still going strong. Abbott Boutique Hotel sustained 100 years of service with a rich historical background. A whole series of history is behind this charming hotel. This is another reason I chose to stay at Abbott Hotel in Cairns.
It was found in 1885; it was a hotel known for the jet setters of high society. The name has changed several times from The Globe to The Post Office Hotel to The Great Northern Hotel.
In 1956 during the Melbourne Olympics, Queen Elizabeth II stayed at this very hotel , it was the place to be. I noticed pictures of actor Lee Marvin also staying in this hotel.
My Stay
This quaint boutique hotel felt like a home away from home. The room was big, comfortable and very clean. The affordable rates allows you to stay longer in Cairns to enjoy lots of activities and tours this city offers. Gateway to Great Barrier Reefs , there are many different tours to take and enjoy the different islands around.
It is walking distance to Esplanade street which is the main artery in Cairns . The visitor centre is very close by to assist you with questions, tours or places to visit. Remember everyone, location, location , location .
Another bonus to all the art lovers like myself, across the street you can visit the Cairns Art Gallery that is free. Most museums in Cairns are free so you can purchase some nice art to bring home.
I really enjoyed my stay at the Abbott Hotel, I slept well and no need to set my alarm . There are so many birds in Cairns they begin the morning singing loudly to wake you up. Start your morning with a yummy breakfast at the sister hotel Pacific International.
Thank you Abbott Hotel hosting me.
